Hello there! This is my first ever time blogging and this is my first blog post! It really feels great! Correction, it feels outstanding!! Even though I have been working in the Software IT industry where I work on cutting edge web and enterprise technologies, I never got around to having my own blog. Well, I am not gonna complain from today onwards ;) I was really thinking what would be my first blog post. I wanted it to be completely different from what the others would be. It didn't take me long to figure out. I decided to write about She who has always been so wonderful and loving to me. I decided to write about Singapore...
9th August is a special day for all Singaporeans. It is the National Day of Singapore, the shining star of the East. This year, Singapore turns 42. We celebrate its birthday every year in a grand way by having a flamboyant parade. Previously, the parade has always been held either at the Singapore National Stadium or the Padang (Green Field). However, for the first time, this year's parade will be held at the Marina Bay. A big "stage" resembling a field, has been erected on the waters. The stage faces famous hotels such as the 6-star Ritz Carlton, Marina Mandarin and Pacific. Tickets for the parade are free and are balloted. I've never been lucky though :(. I heard that many people booked a room at the hotels facing the stage just so they can catch the parade. And the hotels are smart enough to capitalize and bump up the room prices for this day.
Singapore has been a wonderful place for me. It is indeed a City of Possib ilities. It has given me a lot and I am completely grateful to her and all my fellow Singaporeans. On this special day, I sincerely pray that Love, Joy and Peace will always be eternal companions of Singapore and all its inhabitants.
Okay folks, the National Day Parade live telecast on TV has just started. I've gotta go out and catch it.
Sincerely,
Vishal.
